Gala 2021 report & thanks!
The Homes For Hound Gala on 5th September was a fabulous day and probably our most successful show to date - very fitting as it was also our 20th Anniversary Gala.
Grateful thanks to our HFH volunteers who worked so very hard over the weekend. Quite a few people gave up their entire weekend to help. I have to mention: Donna, Allen, John & Trish, Liz & Shelley, Karen, Martin, Chris & Deb, Lyns & Susie, Mags, Jane, John, June and Vicky.
A special thank you to Allen and Donna who did so much to help me organise the show this year. Thank you also Chris & Debbie who allowed me to use their house as a storage unit!
Our stands were really busy and all of our efforts were rewarded.
I'm so grateful to all of the other stall holders who joined us. They were all very happy with their day out and I think they all made new friends.
It was especially lovely to have our friends from Sadie's along for the first time - they are one of our "special" causes and it was great that they were able to join us for the day - bringing along little Tanni on her "wheels"!
Our sponsorship went into overdrive this year. Classes and trophies were sponsored by many good friends and owners, but our dear friends from Howe's Fish & Chips made a wonderful donation which virtually sponsored the whole day!
As if that wasn't enough, they came along to do the catering for the day (thank you Rob & Charlie!) and surprised all of us by feeding our entire band of volunteers free of charge! Their generosity and support of our work is remarkable and we send love and thanks to Jan Howe and her team.
We wouldn't have a Gala if it wasn't for everyone who came along with their beautiful dogs - it was an amazing turnout this year and our two judges, Alison Harper and Annette Harrison and their lovely stewards were kept unbelievably busy on a very hot day. All four ladies are to be congratulated on their unfailing good humour and expertise - it was very much appreciated by everyone who took their dogs into the rings.
So! After we have paid all expenses, we have been left with a mind blowing (fanfare please!!) £6,408.38!
It's our biggest-ever total and will help so much after a really difficult 20 months with virtually no fund raising events.
I am completely at a loss as to how we managed to make this year such a brilliant day out AND with such a huge amount raised . . . but we'll be doing our best to do the same thing, same time next year! Thanks so much to you all!
Given the current circumstances, it's probably no surprise to you that we are struggling to make ends meet at the moment. If you can help, we'd be very grateful.
